Volvo Cars CEO Stefan Jacoby Named Keynote Speaker at the 2010 LA Auto Show Press Days

LOS ANGELES - October 12, 2010 - Stefan Jacoby, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Car Corp, will kick off the Los Angeles Auto Show by delivering the Motor Press Guild (MPG) keynote address the morning of Nov. 17, 2010. The MPG breakfast and Jacoby's address are open to all credentialed Press Days attendees. A Q&A session will be part of the presentation.

Jacoby was elected president and chief executive officer of Volvo Cars in August 2010. Prior to that, he spent most of his professional career at Volkswagen, where he held several senior positions-the latest as of October 2007 serving as the president and chief executive officer of Volkswagen Group of America.

"Right now Mr. Jacoby is in one of the most fascinating car industry positions, as a German CEO of an esteemed Swedish brand now owned by the Chinese," said Charlie Vogelheim, MPG speaker committee chairman and executive editor of IntelliChoice. "He is expected to share his vision of the U.S. and Chinese auto markets, and viable alternative fuel solutions during his LA Auto Show keynote."

Jacoby started his career at Volkswagen and from January 1995 to September 1997, managed the General Office of the Chairman of the Board of Management. From there, as a member of top management, he was responsible for the Asia-Pacific Region and was instrumental in the expansion of the two Volkswagen joint ventures in China. Prior to his last position at Volkswagen, from October 2001 to February 2004, Jacoby was president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors Europe. Jacoby's experience working across corporate cultures and regions has equipped him with in-depth knowledge of one of the industry's leading premium automotive firms.

This will be the 12th year that the MPG breakfast has opened the LA Auto Show Press Days. MPG is comprised of approximately 800 automotive journalists and public relations professionals nationwide, making it the largest automotive press association in the country.

The 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show will be held in the fall for the fifth consecutive time. Press Days are Nov. 17 and 18 and Nov. 19-28 for the public. Media registration is now open. LOS ANGELES (Dec. 2, 2009) - The Volvo XC60 was named 2010 International Truck of the Year today by the International Car of they Year (ICOTY) jury. The award was given to Doug Speck, President and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, LLC at the Volvo display at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The XC60 was chosen over 10 new crossovers, SUVs and trucks by a distinguished panel of top automotive journalists.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), crash tests demonstrate that occupant protection in all kinds of vehicles is improving. However, IIHS doesn't routinely test vehicles in every size/type category. Emphasizing vehicles for family use, the Institute usually crash tests 4-door models. To evaluate the extent to which automakers are extending crashworthiness improvements to 2-door cars, the Institute recently conducted front, side, and rear tests of 2009 coupes including the Chevrolet Cobalt, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, and Scion tC, all small models, plus the midsize Volvo C30.
